The New York Yankees' season came to an end on Wednesday night as the Toronto Blue Jays held onto a slim lead to win Game 4 of the American League Division Series and advance to the Championship Series.
The Yankees had an up and down season but finished the year strong to earn the top wild card spot, and beat their division rivals, the Boston Red Sox, in the wild card series.
However, a second division foe in the same postseason was too much for New York and its 2025 season ended early on Wednesday night. After the game, Yankees star Aaron Judge opened up on the 2025 season.
Aaron Judge Opens Up On Season Ending
A year after making it to the World Series for the first time since the Yankees won it all in 2009, New York failed to make it past the ALDS this season. Following the game, Judge opened up on what led to the Yankees season ending too soon.
"I think once again it comes down to the little things, making the little plays, coming up with the big hit," Judge said. "If you don't do that, give teams extra outs, they're going to capitalize on it. ... For us we gotta clean a couple things up and we'll be right back here."
Judge was confident in the team all year long, through the rough stretches when everyone on the outside doubted the Yankees, and through the highs like the end of the regular season.

However, now that it's all over and didn't end with a World Series ring, Judge revealed the emotions he feels for the rest of the guys on the team.
"I liked our chances all year, it was a special group. Just sucks for the guys that might be their last time wearing pinstripes and not getting a chance to have a long run with them and end in a championship," Judge said. "Especially with the fans all year... disappointed we let all those guys down."
Judge put together an outstanding postseason. After struggling in October throughout his career, the Yankees' star answered all the critics this year. He hit .500 with a 1.273 OPS, one home run and seven RBI.
Judge had a masterful run at the plate in the ALDS, but it wasn't enough to power the Yankees past the Blue Jays. Now, the Yankees quest to win their first World Series since 2009 will have to wait at least one more year.
