Early in the season, the New York Mets needed a centerfielder.

The general consensus was that Tyrone Taylor wasn't good enough for the Mets to get where they wanted to go.

Good thing Taylor is still around.

On Wednesday night, he made the throw of the season for the Mets to potentially keep them in control in the NL Wild Card's race for the final postseason spot.

The Cubs had runners on first and second when a single up the middle called upon Taylor.

He charged, fielded the grounder and unleashed a laser to home plate.

It seemed so improbable that the throw would've been that good that the umpire called the sliding runner safe.

But that was wrong.

Upon review, the out was given.

It's just one play of many in one game of five remaining.

But with the Mets clinging to just a one-game lead on two separate teams, it's a play that had to be made. Every moment counts.

And Taylor picked a great time to show just how good his arm is. What a throw, and it could loom large.
