Mets still eyeing upgrades to outfield and starting rotation image

The New York Mets have had an up-and-down offseason, including trades, free agent signings and departures.

New York added Marcus Semien via trade but lost both Pete Alonso and Edwin Diaz to free agency.

To fill the void left by the duo, the Mets have signed Jorge Polanco, Devin Williams, Luke Weaver and most recently Bo Bichette.

That said, there may be more moves to come. According to Will Sammon of The Athletic, the Mets are still looking to make additions to the outfield and the starting rotation.

They remain in the mix to sign Cody Bellinger, the strongest bat remaining in the 2026 free agent class. However, if unable to come to terms with him, a reunion with Harrison Bader shouldn't be discounted.

If unable to bring in either, New York could possibly pivot to the trade market. Lars Nootbaar of the St. Louis Cardinals and Luis Robert of the Chicago White Sox have previously been linked with the Mets.

As far as their rotation is concerned, a durable ace could go a long way, especially given the youth of New York's projected rotation (which could include both Noah McLean and Jonah Tong).

Framber Valdez and Zack Gallen are the top names available, although a reunion with Chris Bassitt could also make sense. Of all names on the trade market, Kris Bubic of the Kansas City Royals seems the most likely candidate to be moved.

Either way, expect New York to make a few more moves before free agency comes to a close.
