The New York Mets were dealt a heartbreaking result late on Thursday, seeing Kyle Tucker sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers on a massive $240 million deal.

He was their best free-agent option by far, and now, they had to find a way to pivot from the loss of Tucker. But that heartbreak didn't last long, as the Mets quickly pivoted.

According to Will Sammon of The Athletic, the Mets are now landing Bo Bichette on a three-year deal, which, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan, is for $126 million.

"Breaking: The New York Mets and Bo Bichette are in agreement on a three-year deal, pending physical," league sources tell The Athletic," Sammon reports.

The Mets lost out on Tucker, but not even 24 hours later, they've landed one of the other top free agents left on the board, signing Bichette to a three-year, $126 million deal.

It's a big pivot for the Mets, as their infield wasn't in as much of a dire spot as their outfield. But this addition will drastically improve the offense.

And for Mets fans, after seeing the top free agents all leave to different clubs, like Tucker to the Dodgers, Pete Alosno the Baltimore Orioles, and Edwin Diaz to the Dodgers, they've finally landed a top free agent.

This is a big move for the Mets, with Steven Cohen and David Stearns finally landing one of the top free agents of this class this winter.

Bichette will join Francisco Lindor on the Mets' left side of the infield, as he's expected to play third base for the Mets in 2026, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network.
