The New York Mets have had one of the more brutal offseasons in 2025, losing two of their superstars and trading away a couple of stars. Now, they need to make a big splash, and the biggest one they can make is signing Kyle Tucker.
However, with the offseason almost over, there’s a chance they don’t land him. Fansided’s Chris Landers believes that, as a pivot, the Mets should trade for Chicago White Sox All-Star Luis Robert Jr.

“Robert comes with no such risk, with just a pair of $20 million club options for 2026 and 2027 left on his deal. He won't turn 29 until August, and he's among the best defensive center fielders in the sport. Sure, his bat has left a lot to be desired over the past couple of seasons, and he's had a hard time staying healthy. But those are also criticisms you could levy against Bellinger, albeit not the same extent. Betting on Robert to bounce back once he gets out of a dismal environment in Chicago seems pretty wise, and the Mets have more than enough prospect capital to get a deal done,” Landers wrote.
This past season, Robert slashed.223/.297/.364/.661 with 12 doubles, 14 home runs, and 53 RBI in 110 games played. Robert has had a couple of down years, but that can be attributed to a loss of drive to win, since he’s been on the historically worst team in baseball for those two years.

The Mets have already been linked to Robert once before, so this seems like a good match. It solidifies the outfield once again, and at least gives the Mets one win this offseason.
Hopefully, New York considers this trade soon, as time is running out.
