The New York Mets are desperate to get some wins after falling to the Philadelphia Phillies for their fifth loss in a row on Wednesday.
Their hopes of capturing the NL East title are slipping away, and their Wild Card lead has shrunk to just two games over the San Francisco Giants and Cincinnati Reds.
Before their series finale against the Phillies on Thursday, New York made some moves in their bullpen.
Mets recall Huascar Brazoban, option Justin Hagenman before game vs. Phillies
Before the Mets attempt to snap their five-game losing streak on Thursday, the team made moves addressing their bullpen.
MLB.com's Anthony DiComo announced that New York recalled right-handed pitcher Huascar Brazoban from Triple-A Syracuse and optioned right-handed pitcher Justin Hagenman.
Brazoban, 35, has rotated multiple times between the minors and major leagues this season, most recently being optioned to Triple-A at the end of August. Through 46 big league appearances this season, he's shown success, posting a 5-2 record, 3.91 ERA, and 1.32 WHIP while having 51 strikeouts in 53 innings.
Hagenman, 28, has also been brought up from Triple-A multiple times in 2025. He made his major league debut back in April, but his most recent outing, in which he gave up eight hits and five earned runs in 3.0 innings, has motivated New York to send him back down. Through nine appearances this season, Hagenman has a 0-1 record, 4.56 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 23 strikeouts in 23.2 innings.
The Mets are desperate to get some momentum going as the regular season draws to a close this month.
