Former San Diego Padres and current New York Mets executive Andy Green has no plans to leave David Stearns' side.

Despite multiple interests from teams for a managerial role, Green is staying put with the Mets in their front office. MLB insider Jon Heyman shared the news on X, saying:

"Mets executive Andy Green, the former Padres manager, has turned down multiple managerial opportunities to stay with the Mets in a front office role."

Green previously managed the Padres from 2016 to 2019. Before joining the Mets, he served as the bench coach for the Chicago Cubs. Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns found him a valuable resource with respect to his experience in balancing analytics with player development.

Andy Green on David Stearns' prior inquisition for front office role with Mets

Andy Green was looking for a managerial job after the 2023 season. The job search led to a daylong interview with David Stearns, who had something else in mind for Green. The former manager was asked about his thoughts on potentially working in the front office for one day. Little did Green know at the time, he was being considered for a front office role.

"It should've been an indication, 'Yeah probably a different role in mind [by Stearns] right now,'" Green said in winter meetings in Dec. 2023. "We didn't take any further, but I remember that question that day."

Green's current title with the Mets is Senior Vice President, Player Development, which means he's managing the farm system, including the minor league teams, coaches, training staff, etc. He sees to it that the players get the right guidance, training, and resources to uplift their careers.
