The New York Mets missed out on Kyle Tucker, as the superstar outfielder went to the Los Angeles Dodgers on a crazy $60 million per-year deal.

But, the Mets answered the next morning by signing Bo Bichette for three-years at $126 million. After that signing, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Mets close up shop for top additions.

But, according to MLB.com, the Mets aren't slowing down. In fact, they're expected to continue pursuing top hitters this winter even after signing Bichette for $126 million.

Mets expected to pursue top hitters despite Bichette deal

"The Mets in particular, speculated to be more motivated to go after Bellinger after losing Tucker, are unlikely to see Bichette's contract as an obstacle to adding another big bat," MLB.com reported.

This is a significant update on the Mets' free-agent and trade plans. While there's not a specific player mentioned (other than Cody Bellinger), the Mets are not done adding just yet.

If the right player comes across their table, whether it's a free agent or a trade, they won't hesitate to sign or trade for them at the right price, even after adding Bichette.

A $42 million AAV contract is not a small amount, but considering the Mets were willing to go to $55 million for Tucker, they still have some money to play around with this winter.

Bellinger is the top free agent by a wide margin, while Eugenio Suarez or Harrison Bader might be a lower-tier free-agent addition worth exploring this winter.

But the trade market might be a better place to live. Luis Robert Jr. Might be a realistic option, while someone like Jarren Duran, even if it costs Brett Baty, might be the blockbuster splash the Mets are looking for.

But, based on this report, don't expect the Mets to settle down this winter. Even with their interest in a front-line starter, a very real target, they could still explore offensive upgrades this offseason, even after adding Bichette's bat to the lineup.
