The New York Mets decided to send Kodai Senga to Triple-A to get some work in, a decision that came as somewhat of a surprise.
While Senga hasn't thrown the baseball at the level he was expected to for the better part of the past few months, he still owns a 3.02 ERA and has struck out 109 hitters in 113.1 innings pitched for the Mets.
However, his inability to go deep in games, throwing fewer than 5.2 innings in every single outing over his last 10 starts in the big leagues, suggests that the Mets made the right decision.
Can Mets' Kodai Senga bounce back?
Looking ahead, some believe that Senga could be impacted by his lack of ability to go deep into games. When speaking to reporters, according to SNY's Andy Martino, skipper Carlos Mendoza said that it's not a definite that he'll be on the postseason roster.
"I wouldn't say definitely," Mendoza said. "I think we'll have the conversations and we'll take the best 13 guys that we feel are going to give us the best chance to win baseball games in October. In the meantime, we got ten more and we'll continue to treat it that way.
"But Senga, I think the biggest thing is for him to go out there today and have a good performance, and then we have decisions there."

Not having Senga on the postseason roster would come as a surprise, given how poorly the Mets have thrown the baseball this year, but it's also not the worst idea because of how he's looked at times.
At the end of the day, the Mets have a job to do, and if they don't believe that Senga is the guy for them, there's no reason to keep him on the roster.
"I like the fact that there was no walks last time when he pitched in Triple-A," Mendoza said. "Getting ahead, using all of his pitches. He got swing and misses with the split. I think it starts with him throwing strike one and then staying on the attack."
Nonetheless, the Mets have a tough decision to make here, and it could certainly impact how they look when it matters most.
