Dante Bichette played for five different teams in his MLB career.
From the California Angels to Milwaukee Brewers to Colorado Rockies to Cincinnati Reds to Boston Red Sox, though, there's one thing he never did, and his son Bo Bichette just did it on Friday.
Dante Bichette never signed a free agent contract.
Bo has signed a three-year, $126 million deal to join the New York Mets from the Toronto Blue Jays.

And yes, it's hard to believe that Dante never signed a free agent deal, but it's true.
All four times he moved teams, it was in a trade.
He went from the Angels to the Brewers in 1991 for Dave Parker.
Then from the Brewers to the Rockies in 1992 for Kevin Reimer.
In 1999, it was from the Rockies to the Reds for Stan Belinda and Jeffrey Hammonds.
And in 2000 from the Reds to the Red Sox for John Curtice and Chris Reitsma.

He signed extensions along the way to never reach free agency.
He was finally granted free agency on Nov. 5, 2001, after playing his age-37 season with the Red Sox. But his career was over then, so he never got to take advantage of free agency.
Dante was a strong player, a career.299 hitter who hit 274 home runs and stole 152 bases in his career that included four All-Star appearances.
Now, he gets to watch his son be great.
