Twins get good news on trading Byron Buxton, Joe Ryan image

Minnesota Twins fans have had to do plenty of reading this offseason involving the idea of trading Byron Buxton and Joe Ryan.

Buxton even has a no-trade clause, and still there's a sense that he may get moved.

Well, on Thursday, MLB.com's Mark Feinsand provided an outlook that Twins fans may feel much better about.

"Based on conversations I have had this offseason, the Twins appear more likely to hold Buxton, Ryan and (Pablo) López and try to add on the margins than to trade any or all of those three," Feinsand wrote. "If the first half of the season doesn't go well, Minnesota could look to move any or all of them next summer, but if I had to guess right now, they'll all be in Twins uniforms when Spring Training begins."

Buxton has said that he wants to be a Twins player "for life."

Ryan was more heavily involved in trade conversations at the deadline, with the Red Sox seemingly the front-runner, but nothing ever got done.

Lopez has flown under the radar, but he'd be a solid mid-rotation starter for a contender.

The Twins have some talent on their roster, though, led in a large way by these guys. Trading them before the season begins would feel a lot like waving the white flag.

If Minnesota does indeed keep Buxton, Ryan and Lopez in town for now, it'll create a lot more enthusiasm for Opening Day.

There's no guarantee keeping these players leads to success for the Twins. They very well might get traded mid-season if it's a bad first half.

But maybe Minnesota will give them one more chance before moving on.
