The Minnesota Twins have a new manager for the 2026 season in the form of Derek Shelton.
With the hiring of Shelton comes a new-look coaching staff, too.
One of those new coaches was a star elsewhere in the AL Central.
The Athletic's Dan Hayes has reported that the Twins are hiring Grady Sizemore. He was once one of the best players in baseball during his time in Cleveland.
Sizemore will be the outfield coach and the baserunning coach for the Twins.
"Sizemore served as interim manager for the Chicago White Sox in 2024 after the club fired Pedro Grifol, then remained in Chicago as the team’s offensive coordinator in 2025," Hayes writes. "He played for the Cleveland Guardians when Shelton was the team’s hitting coach."

Sizemore was a three-time All Star who had his transcendent abilities slowed by injuries.
From 2005-2008, Sizemore was one of the best players on the planet. He put up an.868 OPS in that span with 115 stolen bases and incredible defense in centerfield.
The fact that Sizemore was already in a dugout in the division most recently, with the White Sox, can't hurt his chances of bringing positive things to the Twins.
And it's gotta be a positive for Sizemore that he already has a good relationship with Shelton, which is likely a lot of the reason he's getting this gig.
This hire has the potential to work out quite nicely for the Twins.
