The name Jacob Misiorowski is long and difficult to spell, but those covering Major League Baseball need to learn how to do both. The Milwaukee Brewers rookie ace did something nobody has done since 1900 Friday night.
Misiorowski took a perfect game into the seventh vs. the Minnesota Twins, as the Brewers posted a one-sided 17-6 victory. While the score looks impressive, what Misiorowski did was even better.
The 6-foot-7 right-hander had six hitless innings to begin the game, adding to the five hitless he tossed earlier this month vs. the St. Louis Cardinals. Misiorowski was forced out of that game with an injury, giving him 11 consecutive hitless innings to begin his MLB career.
Dating back to 1900, no starter had ever gone that long without surrendering a hit before Misiorowski did it.
He finished the night with six strikeouts, breaking down Willi Castro with a 96 mile-per-hour slider that left him on the ground.

Through 11 innings, Misiorowski has allowed just one hit and two earned runs, striking out 11 batters. He is also the only MLB pitcher since 1900 to have more wins (two) than hits allowed (one) over his two-game career.
The 23-year-old dominated at the Triple-A level before being called up, striking out 80 over 13 appearances. He was selected 63rd overall in the 2022 MLB Draft after spending time in junior college with Crowder.
Despite the game taking place at Target Field, the crowd was definitely split with Brewer fans, as they gave Misiorowski a standing ovation after he exited following a walk and home run allowed to Matt Wallner in the seventh.
He threw 29 pitches over 100 mph, hitting 102.1. Of those 29, a dozen were over 101 on the radar gun.
