The Milwaukee Brewers have been mentioned often this offseason in Freddy Peralta trade rumors, and as the offseason has progressed, those rumors have not died down.
Now, with some more clarity thanks to free agents and trades being made in the starting pitching market, the Brewers have a better lay of the land. And in turn, an idea of what they can ask for.
According to Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic, the Brewers have set their high asking price, which not every team can reach, as the two-time All-Star will only be traded if a team offers a young MLB-ready starter.
Brewers' asking price for Freddy Peralta revealed
"If the Milwaukee Brewers are going to trade All-Star right-hander Freddy Peralta," Rosenthal and Sammon write, "They ideally will want the return to include a young, major-league-ready replacement."
Milwaukee is reportedly seeking a young pitcher in return for Peralta, who is 29 years old and heading into the final year of club control.
Peralta, coming off his best season in the Majors, with an MLB-best 17 wins, the Brewers ace is one of the more coveted trade targets this offseason.

But the price tag for such a starter isn't cheap. A young, controllable starter who's ready to pitch in the Majors is a very high price.
Peralta had a 2.70 ERA, a bWAR of 5.5, and a career-best 154 ERA+ this past season for the Brewers. Any team hoping to trade for such a starter will have to give up a lot.
There are some teams with the means to acquire Peralta, with the New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, and likely a few others who would be interested in Peralta this offseason.
The Brewers have set the benchmark they're hoping to clear in negotiations this winter, and with a few highly interested teams, a trade could come to fruition in the coming month or two.
