Brewers' Pat Murphy gives clarity on Tarik Skubal trade speculation for Milwaukee image

With the reports that Tarik Skubal and the Detroit Tigers are so far off on contract negotiations, the rumors are swirling that Skubal could potentially be traded either this offseason or sometime early next season, before his contract is up and he hits the open market.

The Milwaukee Brewers aren't exactly a team that is linked to high-dollar moves like this, but at this point, Skubal is anyone's game if the asking price is right. Since the Brewers have been eliminated from the MLB playoffs, manager Pat Murphy recently made an appearance on "The Show" with MLB insiders Jon Heyman and Joel Sherman and discussed the landscape of the Tarik Skubal rumors.

Brewers' skipper doesn't think trading for Tarik Skubal makes sense

On "The Show" podcast, here is what Brewers' manager Pat Murphy had to say about the prospects of trading for Tarik Skubal:

“The Skubal thing, believe me, there’s a lot of teams in baseball that would give up a lot right now for that.”

“But when you think of our organization, giving up prospects for one year of control of somebody is probably not what we do best,” Murphy added. “It probably doesn’t make sense, does it?”

While Murphy is right about Milwaukee not being one of those flashy teams that make huge trades like this, they do have some question marks surrounding the rotation.

Freddy Peralta's name has been thrown into trade rumors, but considering the nature of the Brewers organization, they are more likley to ship off Peralta than give up a boatload of prospects and MLB-level players for Tarik Skubal either this winter or in the early spring.
