The Washington Nationals are thought to be open for business this offseason in trade discussions. MacKenzie Gore is one of the top names in recent trade rumors.
It would be shocking if the Nationals thought about trading highly-touted outfielder James Wood, who at 23 years old just smashed 31 home runs in his first full season, but Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer isn't ruling the potential out if the Nationals can get a truckload of prospects in return.
BR's Rymer recently pitched some wild trade ideas, and James Wood is featured.

James Wood trade idea sends lefty slugger to Milwaukee Brewers
Here are the full prospects in the 'Unpopular' trade idea:
"'Who Says No?' Trade Proposal: Milwaukee Brewers get LF James Wood; Washington Nationals get SS Luis Peña (Brewers No. 2), SS Cooper Pratt (Brewers No. 3)"
Rymer believes that James Wood gives Paul Toboni and a brand new front office the ability to turn one good player into a brand new Nationals' farm system, which is really depleted.
Wood comes with tremendous power, but he also led MLB in strikeouts with 221. If there's a team that can iron that out, it's the Milwaukee Brewers.

Although Wood comes with a lot of swing-and-miss, some could argue that the Brew Crew is missing a player like Wood with big home run ability to take Milwaukee over the hump and into the World Series.
Washington finished in the cellar of the National League East this season, and now a new regime takes over, with the chance to make its mark known. It's unlikely that the Washington Nationals will compete in 2026, but if their farm system stays depleted, it will be several years before a turnaround takes place.
