Brandon Woodruff isn't going anywhere.

The Milwaukee Brewers had extended Woodruff a $22 million qualifying offer.

On Tuesday, the big right-hander accepted it. He'll play for the Brewers in 2026.

ESPN's Jeff Passan reported the news on Tuesday afternoon.

The $22.025 million Woodruff receives in 2026 will make him the highest-paid pitcher in a single season in Brewers franchise history.

His signing could also alter the Brewers' trade thinking on Freddy Peralta. If Woodruff left for free agency, trading Peralta away would probably seem reckless.

But with Woodruff coming back, a Peralta deal would be more manageable.

Milwaukee could also choose to let Woodruff operate behind Peralta in a strong rotation. The Brewers led the National League in victories in 2025 before falling to the Dodgers in the NLCS.

They're always going to be a bit behind the eight-ball of teams like the Dodgers and the Mets due to finances. That might mean Milwaukee should keep the stars it has and try to make another run.

The Brewers certainly got better with the news that Woodruff accepted his qualifying offer. Now it becomes a question if they stay at this point or subtract to keep costs low.

Milwaukee's fans would certainly like to see the Brewers make another run at upending the balance of power in MLB.
