The MLB trade deadline is a little more than six weeks away, but rumors are starting to pick up at a rapid pace.
One polarizing name on the market is Miami Marlins pitcher Sandy Alcantara.
His name has constantly been in trade discussions, and with the Marlins disappointing season, it wouldn't be surprising to see him moved this time.
On Wednesday, MLB Network insider Jon Heyman gave an update on the Alcantara trade front during a BR Walk-Off episode.
"Alcantara, he's throwing 98 MPH, I do think he will have a market. He won't have the market they were hoping for him to have. It might be a sell-low situation, but I do think there is a decent chance that he does end up getting moved."
Alcantara is a two-time All-Star and former Cy Young winner, but 2025 has been a disaster. As of June 11, he has a 3-7 record with an ugly 7.14 ERA and 31 walks in 63 innings. However, his latest start against the Pittsburgh Pirates included six shutout innings, which might be a promising sign going forward.
He signed a five-year deal worth $56 million in 2021, so he is under control for this season and next season, which could be appealing to teams trying to fix their pitching woes.
While the Marlins won't get a large return - especially with how he has played this year - Heyman thinks his time with the Marlins could be coming to an end.
