If you were wondering what the fastest-ever changeup in the history of baseball was, you can look no further.

Miami Marlins pitcher Edward Cabrera now holds that title.

On Sunday, Cabrera threw a changeup 98 miles per hour. Seriously.

The key, as Friedman sort of shows in that clip repeat, is the grip on the baseball.

Really, it's the grip and pronation of the pitch that determine its type.

You can see the ball start deeper in Cabrera's hand, with his ring finger involved and his pointer finger not really embracing the ball in any crucial way.

That's why it gets the changeup name, but at the same time, it winds up looking a lot like a nasty, high-velocity sinker.

Cabrera won't care what they call it on the radar gun as long as Miami wins.

The Marlins are still working on winning consistently, but Cabrera is certainly prepared for plenty of astounding pitching feats.
