The Los Angeles Dodgers have an embarrassment of riches.
Not only are they back-to-back World Series champs. They also have one of the best farm systems and collections of young talent in baseball.
Considering they still have a strong MLB roster filled with a lot of veterans, some of those young players may be better used as trade bait.
And there's no bigger potential trade target out there than Detroit Tigers lefty Tarik Skubal.

Skubal is probably more likely to stay put this offseason than to move. But if he moves, the Dodgers have the pieces to get him.
"The Dodgers certainly possess the depth to offer one or two young pitchers to the Tigers for Skubal, plus others from their deep farm system," The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal wrote from the Winter Meetings. "Such (young) players can help balance the team’s payroll, but the Dodgers probably will not have enough room on their roster for all of them."
The Dodgers would have something else going for them if they traded for Skubal, too: They have the deep pockets needed to eventually extend him to a record-setting contract.
The rest of baseball would be quite upset if the Dodgers ended up with Skubal. Aren't they good enough already?
But that wouldn't be the Dodgers' fault. They set out each offseason to get better, and they usually do, and it has resulted in relative dominance in recent years.

If another team doesn't want the Dodgers to get Skubal, they should go out and get Skubal themselves.
The Tigers might choose to stand pat anyway. But the Dodgers can make about as compelling an offer as anyone.
