Where there's fire, there's always smoke. In this instance, we'll call the most recent trade rumors surrounding the Los Angeles Dodgers just a bit of a spark with no real action yet.

According to MLB reporter Alden Gonzalez, Los Angeles is "not opposed" to a trade involving right-hander Tyler Glasnow. Glasnow, a 10-year veteran, will be headed into the third season of a five-year, $136.5 million extension he signed prior to the 2024 season.

In his first two seasons of the extension, Glasnow has pitched extraordinarily well. He's been a bit limited (40 starts) due to injuries, but his time on the mound has been productive. Across those 40 starts, Glasnow is 13-9 with a 3.37 ERA and 274 strikeouts across 224 1/3 innings pitched. Those 224 1/3 innings pitched across the previous two seasons account for around 31% of his total innings pitched in his career.

Los Angeles being open to trading Glasnow could mean one of two things. They either are concerned with his injury health and are trying to strike while the iron is hot after two successful seasons or, a move for a starting pitcher could be on the horizon and Glasnow may be the odd man out of the rotation if that were to take place.

The latter of the two seems likely, especially considering the constant link during the winter meetings between the Dodgers and back-to-back Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal.
