Yes, the Los Angeles Dodgers have won the last two World Series.
But no, that doesn't mean they're done getting better.
The expectation around baseball is that the Dodgers will, as usual, be big players in free agency this offseason.
Some have wondered about the Dodgers landing the top free agent available, Kyle Tucker, but others are looking just down the board from there.
ESPN's David Schoenfield writes that the player most likely to help the Dodgers three-peat is the Blue Jays' best free agent, Bo Bichette, who L.A. Just beat in the World Series.
Schoenfield lays out that Bichette fills the Dodgers' three biggest needs, which he says are:
- "An upgrade at second base"
- "A high average hitter"
- "A hitter in his prime"
Bichette would likely move off shortstop to play second sooner rather than later, whether he goes to the Dodgers or elsewhere.
He's a career.294 hitter and would've led the American League in hits in 2025 if not for a September knee injury.
He's also entering his age-28 season. Schoenfield adds that Bichette is projected for a five-year, $130 million deal.
The Blue Jays likely want Bichette back, so it'll be up to what kind of offers come his way and whether he wants to stay put or try out some new digs.
It's a bit of an annoying look to go on the, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em," kind of a path, but it may be what happens with Bichette.
