With big-name free agents, the Los Angeles Dodgers are always involved, and it seems like that’s the case again with Bo Bichette.

However, as of now, it feels like others are linking Bichette to the Dodgers, and not much else.

On the other side of that story, the Dodgers might be the only team that historically wants to pay him as much.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, Bichette is looking for a ridiculous $300 million deal, something he probably shouldn’t get from any team.

“As an ultra young free agent at 27, Bichette’s ask is thought around $300 million, which at first blush may sound high considering that’s the ballpark of even more accomplished shortstops Corey Seager, Trea Turner and Francisco Lindor, but maybe not when you consider how deals for Juan Soto and Bichette’s teammate/great friend Vlad Guerrero Jr. Moved the market,” he wrote

“(Logic says Seager at 27 might get $500M today considering that’s what Guerrero got).”

The Juan Soto and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Contracts certainly changed the market, as Heyman touched on, but Bichette isn’t close to either of those players.

From the Dodgers’ perspective, this is familiar territory. They’re one of the few organizations built to give out a contract of that size without really hurting much, but $300 million for a player of his caliber still seems way too high.

Perhaps things will change and his price will come down to a place the Dodgers would be willing to pay, but I doubt they’ll get as involved as some have suggested.
