Dodgers’ Max Muncy ditches torpedo bat for smart reason, then sees immediate change image

Max Muncy tried the trendy new torpedo bat on Wednesday night.

The Los Angeles Dodgers slugger didn't like it.

His feeling with the lumber was so off that he ditched it mid-game for his old stick.

“After the Dylan Lee at-bat (in the 6th), I felt like the swing was just a little bit off—not mechanically, just in the feel,” Muncy told reporters postgame. “So for that last at-bat, I went back to my regular bat. It was a pretty immediate decision. No second-guessing.”

With his old reliable, Muncy roped a game-tying double in the eighth.

It set up Shohei Ohtani for walk-off home run heroics in the ninth.

Will Muncy use the torpedo bat going forward?

“It might be something I use as a practice bat,” Muncy said with a grin. “But for games? I’ll probably stick with mine.”
