Dodgers manager makes Max Muncy update during Mariners series image

The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched the National League West for the 12th time in 13 seasons on Thursday, and are now taking on the Seattle Mariners in the final regular-season series.

Before the first game of the Dodgers-Mariners series, which LA won 3-2, there were some Dodger updates provided by Dave Roberts. First off, trade deadline acquisition Brock Stewart is getting shoulder surgery and will the rest of the season.

There was also an update on Max Muncy, who was not in Friday's lineup.

Max Muncy is dealing with a lower-body injury

Dave Roberts spoke with the media ahead of the Dodgers' Friday night matchup and revealed that Max Muncy is dealing with an "unspecified lower-body issue" and they're giving him a few days to work through it.

Muncy has been in and out of the Dodgers' lineup all season, dealing with a variety of injuries, but he is a glue piece to the Dodgers' lineup that Los Angeles will desperately need in October.

Because the Dodgers have already clinched their division and don't have seeding to play for anymore, they have the freedom to try and get all their key players either rested or in the right spot mentally.

It was also noted that Tommy Edman was out of the lineup on Friday, as he continues to work back from an ankle problem, but Roberts said he would be back in the lineup on Saturday.

Los Angeles has just two more regular-season games before it looks to play in a wild-card series at Dodger Stadium against an unknown opponent at this point. There is still a three-team race for the final wild card spot between the Reds, Mets, and Diamondbacks.
