Clayton Kershaw isn't done yet.
The Los Angeles Dodgers legend is retired from MLB, but he's returning to the mound to pitch in the World Baseball Classic for Team USA.
That creates a tantalizing possibility for the script writers: Kershaw against his L.A. Teammate, Shohei Ohtani, the leader of defending champions Japan.
Kershaw, in an interview on MLB Network on Thursday, was asked about this potential matchup.
His answer was hilarious, via beat reporter Bill Plunkett: "I think something will have gone terribly wrong if I have to pitch against Team Japan in the finals or something. I think we’ve got plenty of guys to get that guy out. Not me."

Kershaw is right, of course. He knows he was mostly an afterthought in the postseason for the Dodgers.
He's likely on Team USA for some low-leverage innings and some mentorship.
He's one of the best left-handed pitchers ever, but his time has mostly passed.
Besides, look at this pitching staff. It's loaded:
Based on all reports and announcements, Team USA has 3 roster spots left for the World Baseball Classic:

It'll be great to see Kershaw in uniform one more time, even if it's not to face off with Ohtani.
