This offseason has been a slow one by the Los Angeles Dodgers standards, but that all turns on its head abruptly.
According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Dodgers and Kyle Tucker are in agreement on a free-agent deal to bring him to Los Angeles. While Passan didn't report the contract, it's a move that sent the best player to the Dodgers for seemingly the third year in a row.
But the contract details came out not long after. According to Robert Murray of Fansided.com, the Dodgers and Tucker are in agreement on a four-year, $240 million contract. This is, simply put, an absurd contract.
Dodgers make absurd $240M Kyle Tucker signing
"Free-agent outfielder Kyle Tucker and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in agreement on a four-year, $240 million contract, according to sources familiar with the deal," Murray reports. "It includes an opt-out after year two."
For starters, the $240 million given to Tucker in this deal is already not a small amount, but for the years to be this short, it's a stunning offer for the superstar outfielder.
When the New York Mets were rumored to have a $50 million per-year offer on the table, it was considered to be a remarkably high per-year offer.
But now, the Dodgers and Tucker are in agreement on a wild $60 million per-year deal, bringing the top outfielder to the World Series champions as the Dodgers look to three-peat.

The Dodgers are not sparing any expense, trying to capitalize while they can on their championship window. It's admirable, and while the rest of the Major Leagues might be frustrated, the Dodgers model is the ideal one from the Dodgers fan perspective.
But, even then, this $240 million deal is still an absurd one to give to Tucker. There are opt-outs after the second and third year, but the Dodgers, at a minimum, will get Tucker for the 2026 and 2027 MLB seasons.
This is one of the more stunning deals in recent MLB history, as the already stacked Dodgers are now adding the best free agent to their roster.
