The Los Angeles Dodgers have a problem to solve. Max Muncy is out for more than a month after a brutal knee injury.
It means one guy batting .330 at Triple-A is no longer on their 40-man roster.
The problem with Steward Berroa, in this situation, is that he's an outfielder, not an infielder. And so the Dodgers designated him for assignment to claim infielder CJ Alexander off waivers from the Yankees.
The 26-year old Berroa was acquired in a trade from the Blue Jays in May.
Since then, Berroa has batted .330 in 27 Triple-A games, with 11 stolen bases.
He's an above-average hitter since the start of 2023 in the minors, with a 110 wRC+. He also had 45 plate appearances in the majors for the Blue Jays at the end of last year.

Now that Berroa has been DFA'd, he goes on waivers, where he could be claimed by another team.
That's how the Dodgers got him in the first place, agreeing with Toronto to send cash to the Blue Jays to get Berroa in their system.
Now he could be on the move again.
