A few days away from February, and the majority of the free agents have signed their contracts. This leaves only a handful of players still left waing for their new opportunity.

However, that does not mean there are no great players to be signed. Framber Valdez still sits without a contract, and the same goes for Eugenio Suarez.

While those players are considered stars, some smaller-named players could provide excellent additions. Someone like Luis Rengifo could be a massive steal for teams looking for versatility.

Luis Rengifo enjoyed playing in a career-high 147 games for the Los Angeles Angels during the 2025 season. He went on to hit.238/.287/.335 with nine home runs and 43 runs batted in.

Despite the low numbers, he was great at the plate during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter suggests he could be a steal for a team looking for a utility player.

"Despite his struggles last year, Rengifo is not far removed from strong seasons in 2023 (445 PA, 112 OPS+, 35 XBH, 16 HR, 6 SB) and 2024 (304 PA, 115 OPS+, 20 XBH, 24 SB). The 28-year-old will likely need to settle for a utility role, but he is capable of playing his way into an everyday gig and providing terrific value on a one-year deal."

Rengifo can handle second base, third base, shortstop, and all outfield positions. On top of that, he is likely to sign a one-year deal, so he won't cost a team much money or commitment.

The Tampa Bay Rays could be viewed as a logical fit for Rengifo, and so could the Athletics. But, with Ha-Seong Kim's injury, striking a deal with the Atlanta Braves could be at play as well.
