Kansas City Royals drafted 5 different NFL stars that the Chiefs could've used image

The Kansas City Royals in the '80s and '90s had an eye for talent.

That included football talent.

They drafted some of the best football players of that era to try and get them to play baseball.

In the span of a couple decades, these five guys were Royals draft picks:

  • John Elway
  • Dan Marino
  • Archie Manning
  • Deion Sanders
  • Bo Jackson

If only they could've brought those guys to town and had them play for the Chiefs on the gridiron.

Jackson did eventually suit up for the Royals.

Deion eventually played baseball, too.

Elway played in the minor leagues briefly, but the quarterbacks mostly stuck with football.

This history started circulating on social media because Topps is putting out a Dan Marino baseball card.

If things had gone just a little differently, maybe the Royals would've had baseball cards with all of these faces on them.
