Astros could be reasonable landing spot for Yankees' 34 home run slugger image

Both the Houston Astros and New York Yankees are in the offseason portion of 2025. With the free agency period opening in less than a month, it's time for both front offices to start thinking about what big names they want to sign.

For the Yankees, outfielder Trent Grisham is set to hit the open market after a stellar 2025 campaign, and his market is expected to be bigger than last year when he signed a one-year deal worth $5 million.

So, could the Astros be in play for the 34-home run Grisham?

Astros linked to Trent Grisham in predictions piece

In a recent 'top landing spots' predictions piece by Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller, the Houston Astros are listed as a potential good fit:

"However, if they sign Grisham and get him to hit at anything close to the level of excellence with which he has typically hit against them, that's a game-changer. In 19 career games against Houston, Grisham has triple-slashed .290/.355/.623 with seven home runs. That .978 OPS is his best against any team."

The Astros' projected outfield includes Cam Smith, who struggled mightily down the stretch, Jake Myers, and Jesus Sanchez. They could really use a premier power bat in that outfield to help stabilize things.

Money is a little tight in Houston at the moment, but if they do not re-sign Framber Valdez, that should clear some money that Houston could allocate to Grisham.

Grisham was the Yankees' primary leadoff hitter this season, and he enjoyed career-highs in average, home runs, bWAR, and RBIs.
