The Houston Astros could be a team to watch this offseason after a frustrating end to the 2025 season.

Inconsistency after the All-Star break resulted in a 31-34 record over their last 65 games, resulting in Houston losing its division lead to the Seattle Mariners and missing the postseason.

Injuries played a big part in the slump. Players like Josh Hader, Yordan Alvarez, and Jeremy Pena all missed a large part of the season, but are the Astros looking to move some assets this offseason?

Nightengale: Christian Walker could be a player to watch in trade talks this offseason

One player the Astros could look to trade is first baseman Christian Walker. After signing a three-year, $60 million deal with the Astros last offseason, the 34-year-old wasn't as successful at the plate as he was in years before with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale listed Walker as a player to watch on the MLB trade block.

"Walker's name came up in trade talks with the Minnesota Twins when they landed Carlos Correa, and they'll gladly listen to all offers for him this winter trying to shed the remaining two years and $40 million in his contract," Nightengale wrote.

Through 154 games, Walker finished with a.238 batting average,.297 on-base percentage,.421 slugging rate, and a.717 OPS while hitting 27 home runs and 88 RBI. He also struck out 177 times in 2025, the most in one season in his career.
