Astros announce positive Yordan Alvarez news after seeing specialist image

The Houston Astros lost Yordan Alvarez early in the season with a hand issue, and recently, Alvarez suffered a setback. It was a rough time for the Astros and Alvarez as they awaited news from a specialist about his hand.

A few days after the initial scare, the Astros and Alvarez got some encouraging news after seeing the specialist. Brian McTaggart of Astros.com shared the announcement from the Astros on Alvarez's visit with a specialist.

"Yordan Alvarez and the Astros received some encouraging news from a hand specialist that examined Alvarez' sore right hand on Wednesday. As part of the examination, additional imaging was done on his right hand, which revealed that the main cause of his current pain is due to inflammation."

As Alvarez went to get some live swings in West Palm Beach, the inflammation in his hand supposedly died down. But, after the latest imaging, it returned.

Fortunately, the update from the specialist indicated that the fracture that had been in his hand is a "non-factor" in the discomfort Alvarez felt in his hand. Also, the report indicates that the injury is making progress as well.

"The specialist also determined that the imaging done on Wednesday revealed that Alveraz' hand had made noticeable progress when compared to imaging done over the past several weeks."

Signs of progress are a huge step forward for Alvarez, even though he suffered the setback. While it's going to take a little while longer to be back, it's not a re-injury or another issue coming up. It was just inflammation.

Overall, this announcement from the Astros is very encouraging news. While Alvarez is still dealing with the issue, it's a sign of relief for the Astros and Alvarez, as the specialist could've found much worse results after the latest imaging.

He will continue to miss time, but the Astros slugger didn't suffer a major setback and is still working his way back to the MLB roster. After such a scare early in the week, this update is a positive sign for Alvarez amid his injury recovery.
