The Detroit Tigers' season did not unfold the way they were hoping. After starting the season as one of the best, they ended the season as one of the shakiest teams in the league.

Detroit ended up getting out to a 15.5-game lead in the American League Central, just to lose the division to the Cleveland Guardians. They still made the postseason and had to face Cleveland in the Wild Card.

They were able to handle business there, but could not get past the Seattle Mariners. In a thrilling series, they lost 3-2. Their season came to a screeching halt, and now it is time to think about next season.

The free agency period this winter should be another exciting one. There are some star players on the list, like Alex Bregman, Pete Alonso, and Japanese slugger Munetaka Murakami.

There are plenty of names this year that Detroit could target, but one may not be on everyone's radar. The Detroit Free Press' Ryan Ford argues that the Tigers should take a look at former New York Yankees slugger Amed Rosario.

"The former Cleveland defensive whiz spent time with five teams over the past two seasons; his glove isn't what it used to be, but he put up .745 OPS in 191 plate appearances with the Nationals and Yankees in 2025."

Rosario is not a star, but he could be plenty useful in Detroit. His experience playing all around the diamond could prove big alongside a solid bat to back that up. He also would not be a player who would require a long-term contract, which could help Detroit sign other players this winter as well.
