For the Detroit Tigers, there is no position more important to address at the MLB trade deadline than third base. While there aren't a ton of options out there, there is one that stands out as being a great fit: Arizona Diamondbacks Eugenio Suarez.

ESPN's David Schoenfield, in an article naming one player every team should trade, or trade for, at the MLB trade deadline, urged the Tigers to land Suarez from the Diamondbacks.

"The Tigers will likely make multiple moves," Schoenfield writes. "-- no doubt, adding a bullpen arm at the minimum -- and while the lineup has shown surprising depth, adding Suarez to hit between lefties Kerry Carpenter and Riley Greene feels like the perfect fit while allowing Zach McKinstry to return to his utility role."

For the Tigers, not only would Suarez be a great fit, but he'd be a reasonable piece to target. Even if the Diamondbacks are contending for a postseason spot, they have the depth and could decide to move on from Suarez in the final year of his $79 million deal.

Suarez is one of baseball's best sluggers this season, and has 26 home runs through a little more than half the season. His .254 batting average is also solid, and his .888 OPS would immediately be first among Tigers with at least 100 at-bats this season.

The cost for Suarez may be a lot, even though he's on an expiring deal. But, landing one of the game's best sluggers at the trade deadline would be a huge move for the Tigers to pull off. He'd reunite with Detroit and A.J. Hinch and provide a much-needed boost to the lineup in his 12th season in the league.

Detroit has a need at third base, and Suarez would be a perfect fit. He'd help balance the middle of the lineup, and also provide the offensive firepower that the Tigers need to make a deep postseason run amid their incredible 2025 season.
