The Detroit Tigers seem to only have one more chance at a title run with their Cy Young, Tarik Skubal, if they don’t trade him this offseason. With that in mind, it’s time for them to create a one-off superteam for one final dance.

Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer believes so as well, and pitches that the Tigers go out and get a real closer to help Skubal close out games. He proposed that they get two-time All-Star Devin Williams on a one-year, $10 million deal.

“As Williams still struck out 34.7 percent of the batters he faced this year, getting swings and misses was clearly an area where he still excelled. The Tigers badly need someone like that in their bullpen, which finished last in the American League in strikeout rate this year,” Rymer wrote.

This past season, Williams posted a 4.79 ERA with 90 Ks, a WHIP of 1.129, and 18 saves. While his ERA was way up, he still struck out many batters, as he had a 13.1 K/9.

If the Tigers could get Williams, he might be able to bounce back to his All-Star form. He might not have been ready for the big stage in New York with the Yankees, but getting him to Detroit could remind him of his small-market Milwaukee Brewers days, and the stress will come off his shoulders.

Hopefully, the Tigers get on him soon; otherwise, another small-to-mid market team will snatch him up in a heartbeat.
