The Cleveland Guardians have drawn the eyes of all the top contenders to them. With valuable trade chips, like Steven Kwan, Emmanuel Clase, Cade Smith, and Carlos Santana, there are plenty of teams that want to negotiate with Cleveland.
But, according to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, those negotiations haven't gone well for opposing teams. The Guardians' trade deadline negotiations have, in the words of Rosenthal, been "frustrating."
"The other element is that the Guardians are extremely disciplined in trade talks," Rosenthal writes, "Often frustrating potential partners."
While teams like the Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, and many others are negotiating with the Guardians, those talks haven't gone anywhere. Cleveland's stingy nature has caused other teams to grow frustrated with the Guardians.
Whether it's with Clase, Smith, Kwan, or even Santana, the Guardians aren't rolling over and giving up their trade pieces for nothing. When it comes to Kwan, an offer would likely have to blow the Guardians away to even consider it.

The potential for a deal with the Guardians doesn't look great, even if the team isn't in contention by the deadline. Their negotiating has led teams to grow frustrated with the Guardians, which has a potentially huge impact on the trade market.
Clase and Smith would be a big addition for teams at the deadline, and with both being very difficult to acquire due to the Guardians' negotiation tactics, the best arms could be off the board.
It's a seller's market, and the Guardians are taking full advantage of it. While they aren't hanging up the phone, they are making negotiations difficult due to their extreme discipline.
The MLB trade deadline will be very interesting for the Guardians, as if they stay disciplined, none of their trade chips could be moved, despite interest from around the league. This situation is one to watch as the deadline approaches.
