The Cleveland Guardians simply haven't figured out their outfield in recent years.

Steven Kwan aside, it's been a mess.

So anytime a new outfielder comes to town, they have a real chance to play, because at this point, Cleveland will try anything.

The new guy on Saturday is Stuart Fairchild, who signed a minor-league contract, according to MLB.com's Tim Stebbins. He'll be invited to big league spring training.

Fairchild has played in MLB for the Diamondbacks, Mariners, Giants, Reds and Braves.

In his career, he's a.223 hitter with a.689 OPS. He struggled to a negative WAR in 2025 in 28 games with the Braves.

Fairchild was originally a second-round pick of the Reds in the 2017 MLB Draft out of Wake Forest. He's from Seattle.

Fairchild has played every outfield spot in the majors an ample amount of time, so he can slot in wherever the Guardians decide they want him.

He did steal 10 bases in 2023 and 13 bases in 2024, so that's a bit in his skillset, too.

Fairchild has never been a full-time player, but he's proven to be reliable enough to keep getting MLB opportunities.

The newest Guardian will turn 30 in March. He'll be at spring training at that point, hoping to prove he belongs on Cleveland's opening day roster.
