The Cleveland Guardians have had a bleak 2025 season, and yet, they are only 2.5 games out of the third and final wild card spot in the American League. While Cleveland is looking to sneak into the postseason, one of their best players is on track to make history.

Jose Ramirez has been the Guardians' best player this season, and it's not been particularly close. While he's not likely to win the AL MVP, despite having incredible numbers, he is on track to lead the Guardians' offense in many categories.

As OptaSTATS on Twitter/X points out, Ramirez is on pace to tie Hank Aaron and Babe Herman as the only players in MLB history to lead his team in five statistical categories three times in their careers.

Ramirez on Pace to Join Elite Company After 2025 Season

The five statistics that Ramirez is leading, and on pace to lead for the Guardians, are home runs, doubles, RBIs, runs scored, and stolen bases. If Ramirez stays on this current pace, he would join Aaron and Herman as the only players in MLB history, since 1920 (when RBIs began to be tracked), to lead his team in these five categories three times.

Ramirez currently has 27 home runs, two more than Kyle Manzardo for the Guardians team lead. He also has 73 RBIs, 10 ahead of Manzardo. His 87 runs are 17 ahead of Steven Kwan's 70, while his 26 doubles are one ahead of Kwan's 25 doubles.

Each of those categories, home runs, RBIs, runs scored, and doubles, is at risk of seeing a Guardians player surpassing Ramirez in the final weeks of the season. Only his stolen bases, which sit at 36, 20 more than Kwan, who's the next closest, are safe from being eclipsed.

Ramirez has been the best Guardians player by far this season, and he'll likely receive more MVP votes, especially if he can lead the team to sneak into the postseason with a strong September.

But in the final month of the year, he's not just looking to help the Guardians make the postseason; he's looking to join Hank Aaron and Babe Herman in some incredible MLB history.

Ramirez needs to hold off on Kwan from surpassing him in runs and doubles, while also holding off Manzardo in home runs and RBIs to make such MLB history.

The Guardians icon is putting together an incredible MLB career thus far, and this accomplishment could further elevate his Hall of Fame case. He's already a strong candidate, but as he continues to rack up these incredible feats, his chances of being a Hall of Famer increase with every passing season.
