Given the Cleveland Guardians' ability to develop pitching, any new arm the Guards seek out is notable.
That's what they landed in the Rule 5 Draft on Wednesday.
They took Peyton Pallette, a right-handed pitcher from the Chicago White Sox organization.
Cleveland will owe Chicago $100,000 for the pick, and if Pallette doesn't stay on the MLB roster all season, he'll have to be offered back to the White Sox for $50,000.

Pallette was a second-round pick in the 2022 draft, so he's got a strong pedigree.
The 24-year old right-hander is listed at 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds.
Pallette split the 2025 season between Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte.

In 52 appearances out of the bullpen, Pallette had a combined 4.06 ERA. He struck out 86 batters in 64.1 innings pitched, so there's clearly strong stuff here.
He overall has a 4.20 career minor league ERA with 10.7 strikeouts and 4.2 walks per nine innings.
If the Guardians can harness the stuff with a bit more control, Pallette could be a legitimate bullpen talent in Cleveland.
