The Cincinnati Reds already had a pretty strong pitching staff.
It got better on Sunday with their new free agent signing.
The deal was reported by MLB insider Jon Heyman: Pierce Johnson is coming to Cincy.
Pierce Johnson is a right-handed reliever, 34 years old, who had a 3.05 ERA in 65 games for the Atlanta Braves in 2025.
In his career, he has pitched for the Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres, Colorado Rockies and the Braves.
Johnson has spent the past two-and-a-half seasons with Atlanta. He has a 2.91 ERA in that time for the Braves.

His career MLB ERA is 3.79.
Johnson strikes out 10.8 batters per nine innings in his MLB career.
At 6-foot-2, Johnson is a sturdy tosser who gets the job done out of the bullpen.
He was a first-round pick of the Chicago Cubs in the 2012 MLB Draft out of Missouri State.
He's originally from Denver, Colorado.
The Reds also signed veteran utility man Garrett Hampson on Sunday, so they apparently weren't busy watching football and instead were focused on adding solid depth to their roster.
