Reds’ Elly De La Cruz’s HR record joins Johnny Bench, Frank Robinson in franchise history image

Elly De La Cruz is keeping incredible company in Cincinnati Reds history.

The latest list he's joined came thanks to a home run on Sunday in Detroit, his fourth consecutive game with a homer.

Only four players in Reds history have homered in four consecutive games at age 23 or younger, according to MLB's Sarah Langs.

The first was Frank Robinson back in 1959.

Then it was Johnny Bench in 1970.

And finally, Eric Davis accomplished the feat in 1984.

Talk about a who's who of three of the most talented players in Reds history.

For Elly to join them on any kind of a record list is a brilliant achievement.

De La Cruz went 7-for-14 overall in the weekend series in Detroit as he heats up.

Elly has raised his season average to .273 and his OPS to .850 with the hot stretch.

He still has untapped potential, but right now, De La Cruz is showing he has a great chance to reach his incredible ceiling.
