The Cincinnati Reds did something that hadn't seemed possible in a while.
They beat Quinn Priester.
The Milwaukee Brewers had won the last 19 games in which Priester took the mound for them, an almost unfathomable stretch but nonetheless a quite intimidating one.
How would the Reds make up ground in the NL Wild Card race when opposed by Priester on Friday night?
Answer: By getting a great outing from Zack Littell and adding some timely hitting.
In the end, the Reds won 3-1.
Cincinnati hasn't been to the postseason since 2020, but now the Reds' destiny is controlled in their own hands.
They are tied with the New York Mets on record after the Mets lost in Miami to the Marlins on Friday, 6-2.
But the Reds hold the tiebreaker over the Mets. If they finish with the same record, it'd be Cincy claiming the third and final NL Wild Card spot.
There are two games to play, Saturday and Sunday, for both teams.
Every game in MLB will start at the same 3:10 p.m. ET on Sunday.
It's going to come right down to the wire for the Reds.
If they win Saturday and the Mets lose, that clinches the playoff spot already.
If they have the same result Saturday, it'll all come down to Sunday.
Buckle up.
