Pope Leo XIV just dunked all over the Chicago Cubs image

The leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV, is a known Chicago White Sox fan.

He's the first American to hold the papal office. Born Robert Prevost, he grew up in Chicago rooting for the Sox, not the Chicago Cubs.

And even now, the pope is happy to embrace his fandom.

A viral video captured Pope Leo riding through a large crowd, and in the background, someone can be heard yelling, "Go Cubs!"

The noted White Sox fan couldn't stand for that.

"Han perdido," Pope Leo replied, then translated himself, "They lost."

He isn't wrong. The Cubs were knocked out in the NLDS by the Milwaukee Brewers.

Probably doesn't want to discuss the White Sox and how far they were from making the playoffs, but still not a bad chance to dunk on the Cubs.

Jokes have been made about how it makes sense for the pope to have embraced suffering his whole life by being a White Sox fan.

Cubs fans didn't have it any better for a long time, until that 2016 team changed everything.

But at this point, the White Sox and Cubs are both on their couches watching the rest of the playoffs, as is, apparently, Pope Leo XIV.
