Pete Crow-Armstrong sometimes seems like he can do the impossible.
Well, on Friday, he did. During the Cubs' 4th of July matchup with the Cardinals, PCA ran down a ball in centerfield that had a 0% catch probability.
To explain that stat in full: It doesn't actually say that a ball can't be caught. It just says in the history of the tracking systems, no ball in its location, factoring in distance from the outfielder and speed the ball is traveling, has ever been caught.
So PCA caught a baseball in a way no one has.
He traveled 66 feet in 3.7 seconds for this diving grab.
PCA covered 66 feet in 3.7 seconds to make this catch.

Baseball Savant gave it a 0% Estimated Success Rate — meaning a play like this had never been made before.

Crow-Armstrong's defense was never really in question.
But his offense has taken a giant leap this year. He could legitimately finish with a 40 homer, 40 steal season.
He's an All-Star starter, fully deserved.
It's the year of PCA, and he might just be getting started.
