Pete Crow-Armstrong is having a monster season this year. He has been a key factor for the Chicago Cubs' success this season, and he has quickly become a fan favorite.
The young slugger has played in 137 games so far, hitting .253/.291/.494 with 34 doubles, 28 home runs, 85 runs batted in, and 32 stolen bases. He has also played well defensively, leading all other MLB center fielders with 378 putouts.
He has a bright future ahead of him, something that Cubs legend Sammy Sosa stated. He sat down for an interview with the crew over at Marquee Sports Network, raving about the young outfielder.
"I had a chance to be with him in spring training. His approach, he's the kind of guy that stayed with it. He got a long swing sometimes but when he's short and quick, that's when he's at his best," said Sosa. "Right now, his attitude, he's gotta bring his swagger to the plate. And he always does that. He's gonna be fine."
Sammy Sosa believes his former club has what it takes
The Cubs currently find themselves in second place in the National League Central, chasing a 5.5-game lead by the Milwaukee Brewers. However, they do have the top spot in the National League Wild Card, and Sammy Sosa is backing his former club.
"Normally in a 162-game [season], they're going to go through up and downs like everybody else," said Sosa. "But right now, I think that passed already and they're coming back to be hot again. My money's on them."
