The Chicago Cubs made headlines earlier on Wednesday after it was reported that they were finalizing a deal with the Miami Marlins to acquire Edward Cabrera.

Cabrera has been seen as a trade chip over the last few seasons, so this should come as no surprise. The Cubbies need another frontline starter, and if he stays healthy, he could be just that.

The hard-throwing righty is coming off a season where he started 26 games, compiling an 8-7 record with a 3.53 ERA on a career-high 137.2 innings of work. He could be someone who could pair well with Shota Imanaga.

While most fans are waiting for the final word on the Cabrera trade, the Cubs just acquired a new arm. According to ESPN's Jesse Rogers, they claimed Ryan Rolison after he was waived by the Chicago White Sox.

"The Cubs have a new pitcher.....lefty Ryan Rolison was claimed off waivers from the White Sox."

For those unfamiliar, Rolison was a University of Mississippi product, where he spent two years. After making a name for himself in front of MLB scouts, the Colorado Rockies selected him in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft.

He would spend quite a few years working his way through the minors, but was able to make his MLB debut this past season. He went on to appear in 31 games this past season, struggling to get opposing batters out at times.

During his 31 appearances last year, he put together a 1-0 record with a 7.02 ERA across 42.1 innings of work before being traded to the Atlanta Braves, who DFA'd him only for the White Sox to DFA him later.

However, some scouts are high on this lefty, and he could be a low-risk, high-reward signing for the North Siders.
