For the Boston Red Sox, the worst news they could receive this offseason happened: Alex Bregman left. The superstar third baseman just signed a five-year, $175 million deal with the Chicago Cubs, and he leaves a void in the Sox’ roster.
Now, the Sox really only have one choice to save this offseason, and pretty much the next couple seasons: Go all out and sign Toronto Blue Jays All-Star Bo Bichette.
Bichette isn’t the defender Bregman was, but he definitely has more offensive talent. He slashed.311/.357/.483/.840 with 44 doubles, 18 home runs, and 94 RBI in 139 games played.
Bichette can also play either second or third base, and the other is filled by Marcelo Mayer, who will hopefully have a fully healthy, breakout season.

The Sox NEED to do this. Otherwise, they traded away their first superstar third baseman and final remnant of the 2018 World Series team, Rafael Devers, for basically one year of Alex Bregman and a Wild Card series loss.
Hopefully, they get it together, and offer Bichette whatever he wants to get him in scarlet red and white. Otherwise, this franchise may be doomed to fail for at least next season, maybe longer.
