With the Boston Red Sox' loss to the New York Yankees in the Wild Card Series, their offseason has officially begun. With that, the Sox will be looking to make some deals to make next season’s roster a true contender.

Here are three Sox players who could make for some blockbuster trades this offseason:

Jarren Duran, OF

Duran is probably at the top of the list for a lot of people. If the Sox were to retain all their outfielders, they’d have six on the roster. Duran has been the center of a lot of trade proposals, as he was one of the possible pieces in the almost finished deadline deal for Minnesota Twins ace Joe Ryan.

Duran slashed .256/.332/.442/.774 with 41 doubles, a league-leading 13 triples, 16 home runs, and 24 stolen bases. He’ll have a great market, and while it would pain Boston to see him go, it would be for the better.

Masataka Yoshida, OF

Another quality outfielder who's competing with five other guys for playing time. Yoshida was hurt for a good portion of the season, and when he came back, he wasn’t his former self.

However, he became the hero of September after Roman Anthony’s fall and was a solid contributor in the playoffs. The Sox can ride that momentum into the offseason, as someone would definitely want a lefty DH/outfielder like Yoshida.

Triston Casas, 1B

This is more of a pull. While he was a prime trade candidate last offseason, getting two serious season-ending injuries could definitely hurt him. However, he’s here because of that; he’s just never available.

If the Sox can trade Casas and land a star free agent like Pete Alonso, they could be in the driver’s seat for the AL East.
