There have been a lot of free-agent moves in the last week or so in the Major League Baseball world. It all started with Alex Bregman ditching the Boston Red Sox to join the Chicago Cubs.
When the Red Sox answered with Ranger Suarez on a $130 million deal, the next dominoes to fall were Kyle Tucker to the Los Angeles Dodgers for $240 million, and then Bo Bichette to the New York Mets for $126 million.
Now, with free-agent chaos behind them, what will the Red Sox do? Well, one potential move, a trade of Jarren Duran, according to Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic, seems a lot more likely now than it did at the start of the offseason.
Red Sox 50/50 to trade Jarren Duran
"Earlier in the offseason," McCaffrey writes, "I would have said a 75 percent chance Duran is on the Opening Day roster' now I'm thinking it's closer to a 50 percent chance."
This is a significant change, as McCaffrey believes there's a 50-50 chance that the Red Sox trade away Duran this offseason.
His not being on the Opening Day roster wouldn't be a major surprise, and now, it's even less of a surprise than she would've thought at the start of the offseason.
Now, thanks to the free-agent chaos and the Red Sox's own roster moves, the possibility of trading Duran is a lot more realistic.

The Red Sox have a dire need in the infield, and Duran, amid a crowded outfield, is the most likely player to be traded.
With teams showing serious interest in Duran, the Red Sox could find a three-team trade to land a new infielder, or if the Mets are willing to part with Brett Baty, they could swing a deal with Duran going to the Mets and Baty to the Red Sox.
But, regardless of how they try to make it work, McCaffrey believes that there's a 50% chance that the Red Sox don't have Duran on the Opening Day roster, which would mean he's been traded.
Red Sox fans should keep a close eye on trade rumors in the coming weeks, as Craig Breslow and company will be working the phones to explore deals for infield help after losing Bregman to the Cubs this winter.
